Madam Ambassador then met Mr. Gregory Mvongo, Governor of the East, before doing a guided tour of the site chosen for the project "Bertoua Capitale Régionale" accompanied by the French Development Agency (AFD) on C2D fundings. The next day, Madam Ambassador visited the site of Lom Pangar dam in presence of the Minister of Energy and Water Mr. Basile Atangana Kouna and the Chairman of the Board of Electricity Development Corporation Mr. Victor MENGOT. France via its development agency helps to ensure that works respect the environmental and social management plan to offset the negative impacts of the dam. It focuses indeed on the sustainable management of building works: restraint and downstream impacts, mitigation of social impacts and management of the Deng Deng forest. AFD prepares eventually the sustainable operation of the dam including water resources management.
